St.
Patrick's sends financial support to the community of Nueva Trinidad.
This money is the result of our parish tithing, contributions
to outreach, and fund raising work of the Sister-Parish Committee.
It is possible that Nueva Trinidad will use our funds for one
or more of these projects:
Building and operating a kindergarten on a recently acquired
piece of land.
Developing the soccer field that St. Patrick's funded
Building a playground.
Extending the education project
Supporting the new Junta Directiva
The SHARE Foundation is committed to providing
us with a full accounting of how our funds are used, and requires
some community involvement in each project so that community members
can demonstrate their commitment to a project.
Fund Raisers For Nueva Trinidad
Fall is one of the busiest times of the
year for the Social Justice Committee. The annual Walk-A-Long
in October brings people together for a walk to Gas Works Park
from St. Patrick's. Sponsors pledge money to the walkers, and
prizes are given to those who bring in the most money for Nueva
Trinidad.
The Third World Crafts Fair in November
benefits the artists who make the crafts, and many organizations
who work in solidarity with the poor. It also provides funds for
Nueva Trinidad, through the bake sale and Salvadoran crafts table.
Be sure to look for the hair bands which were made by the folks
of Nueva Trinidad.

Assistance with set-up, clean-up, staffing
booths for Third World Crafts Fair (first Sunday in November).
Besides working with issues related to
Nueva Trinidad, we conduct letter-writing campaigns and
get involved in other issues. For example, we have supported
the effort to close down the School Of The Americas, in
Fort Benning, Georgia, because of the abysmal human rights
record of its trainees. We're currently working on finding
ways to broaden the scope of our outreach so if there's
a project you'd like to work on, come join us and let us
support you.
